SCREENSHOTS

Here you can see the big changes I introduced to OldPBR formats with this version 1.8.0. I started baking-in AO into the albedo files to give more depth to shaders that can’t use LabPBR texture-provided ambient occlusion (that’s stored in the normals blue channel with LabPBR 1.3).

It’s not totally realistic but missing AO (even baked-in) loses quite a bit of detail on the overall shape of a texture. As I reworked lots of block AO for this version it only made sense I added an way to experience it on shaders that don’t use texture AO as well.

This comparison below shows SEUS PTGI HRR 2.1 without (left) and with (right) baked-in AO. You see AO adds lots of shape and depth on top of normalmapping, POM, and parallax self-shadowing.

Here is a small gallery with MollyVX shader showing off the benefits of baked-in AO.

As the recent poll results showed that you wanted a more vanilla sea lantern, I replaced the fully round one I showcased a while back.
I didn’t want to scrap the round lantern completely so I decided to add it as an extra add-on for those willing to bring the roundness back!

  1. You can Remove the warning about the incompatible version with a small change to the pack.mcmeta file. If you change the value for pack_format, Minecraft will see the pack as compatible. For me, Changing the value from 4 to 7 got rid of the warning in 1.17.

      1. The solution I’m using here is not optimal but it’s the least inconvenient I guess. Now if you edit the pack version and are satisfied that way, well good ^^

  2. I used to use the 256x and I used to get 30fps but now due to this texture pack I am getting 1fps-2fps. Do you know a solution to it?

    1. Have you enabled the “smart animations” toggle in video options ? Also try disabling the terrain animations altogether and see if it makes any difference.
It’s possible the extra blocks that were added in this version cause memory issues on systems that used to work.
Which version of Minecraft and Optifine are you using?

  3. Just wanted to know if it was possible to have sample screenshots of the different resolution options as I have a feeling that my x64 pack isn’t rendering properly.

    1. Yep it’s confirmed. I used the x256 version to compare what I saw in-game with one of the vids on this site and the 3D textures aren’t working on my end.

    1. Hmm I’d have said texture resolution but you ruled it out, so my last guess would be an incompatibility with an AMD GPU. I think the fix for this is to revert back to an older driver version but I’m really not sure. You could always come and ask around on our discord https://discord.gg/eSVrvEGw (note: this like will expire in a week)

  4. Hi, my iron blocks and gold blocks are not reflective like real metal and the dont reflect as shown on a video using this texture pack. I am using SEUS PTGI E12 with Old PBR 256x.

    1. I just tested some links (mirrors) and they seem to work as intended. Which exact link are you trying to load? Also try another browser.
Just so you know the v1.9.0 is about to release anyway so you can wait for this one to go live and try those links instead.
