Today I added heightmaps for POM on bamboo-related blocks, as well as the allium and azure bluet flowers.
I changed the normals a bit further on azure bluets to give them a better “extruded” feel, the new normals popping out somewhat more.
The bamboo part I wanted to get more round-ish but heightmaps being finnicky around the edges I had to resort to tweaks and compromise. The edges have very slight seams but the overall shape of the bamboo feel much rounder without sacrificing the vanilla blocky style.
Here are some screenshots. I used various shaders so you can judge how each one of them handles POM on cutout/stencil transparent blocks such as flowers and plants.
