There was one more ice block I could do. It’s not a block you can get in your inventory but only generated or placed with commands. It’s the frosted ice block.
It’s largely translucent (for shaders that support those blocks or shaders that have hardcoded frosted ice as translucent) and degrades over time when in hot weather, much like regular ice (not compressed though). Difference being that this block has “melting” stages much like regular blocks have “destroy” stages when the player manually mines them.
Here is an example with BSL shader (dev version from 2020-02-23).


and here is how it looks with Continuum 2.1 Alpha. This shader makes ice much less translucent and has lots of refracted distortion. I think it looks stunning !
